Our Story

Our story began in March of 1961, with a small gathering in the home of Terry and Virginia Hart. God was at work, and our first Sunday services were held on Easter Sunday, April 23, 1961, at Point Pleasant Elementary School. With the assistance of the North American Missions Board (NAMB) the current grounds were purchased in February 1962. At that time the church building consisted of a little house and a chicken coop!

In 1966, a second building was built and operated as a multi-purpose area for several years. During the 1970’s, Faith more than doubled its membership, and as a result of God’s continued blessings, the current Worship Center was built. With a passion to reach the children, the Faith Baptist Church Nursery School, now The Child Development Center, opened its doors in 1981.

Soon space became scarce, and renovations were made to the current buildings. Several trailer units were also added. The trailers, known as The Lighthouse, is the go-to-place for our students on Wednesdays and Sundays to this day. Then in the spring of 1999, ground was broken for the construction of the Family Life Center. This building still serves as home base for our Recreation and Upward Sports Ministries.

In October of 2003, Faith purchased the property across the street, better know as “The Garage, ” which is currently the College & Career hangout. Then in November of 2005, we were blessed to be able to add a parsonage, when the property at 7408 E. Furance Branch Road was purchased.  Next came the Quilting House addition at 7402 E. Furnace Branch Road in October 2012 and with it came the addition of our barbecue pit and outdoor fellowship area. Finally in November 2015, the property at 436 Stiemly was purchased.

Faith is also blessed to say we are a Riverwise Community of Anne Arundel County. This allows us to conserve & preserve God’s natural habitat while still expanding our ministry areas.

We give all glory to God for His amazing guidance and blessings and excitedly look forward to what is to come!
